OC Transpo identifies Line 1’s west extension to Algonquin and the new Line 3 to Moodie. Neither is a station in the six Kanata neighbourhoods in this guide. The official extension page lists 2027; this is provisional, not a guaranteed Kanata service date.

Highway 417 crosses the Kanata area. Hazeldean Road is another bus and road corridor; use the current journey planner rather than an old route list for a particular trip.

All 44 questions
  1. How far is Kanata from downtown Ottawa?

Published geographic descriptions place Kanata about 22 kilometres west-southwest of downtown Ottawa. That is an area-level orientation, not a measured driving distance from a particular home; the route and travel time depend on both endpoints and traffic.

  2. Does the O-Train go to Kanata?

OC Transpo’s west extension goes to Algonquin on Line 1 and Moodie on Line 3, not into the Kanata neighbourhoods covered here. Terry Fox and Eagleson are bus stations; do not interpret the west extension as a confirmed opening of rail service in Kanata.

  3. What does the O-Train west extension mean for Kanata?

The official west-extension project adds a Moodie terminus on Line 3 and an Algonquin terminus on Line 1. These are regional connections east of Kanata rather than rail stops in its neighbourhoods; onward travel from a Kanata address still needs a separate journey plan.

  4. Where is Terry Fox Station?

Terry Fox Station is an OC Transpo bus station beside Kanata Centrum. It is a useful reference point when checking connections to the shopping area, but it is not an O-Train station.

  5. Is there a park and ride at Eagleson?

Eagleson Station has a park-and-ride facility beside the Highway 417 and Eagleson Road interchange. Check OC Transpo’s current parking and service information before travelling; the directory map point represents a bus platform rather than a parking entrance.

  6. Which major roads connect Kanata?

Highway 417 crosses Kanata, with March and Eagleson roads connecting the north and south sides near its eastern edge. Hazeldean Road is a road and bus corridor through Kanata South; consult current travel information rather than treating a published route map as a timetable.
